A common question we receive in our office is whether or not you can still get regular dental cleanings with braces. The answer is most certainly! We require that all of our patients have a dentist. We also ask them to be seen by their general dentist twice a year for cleanings and examinations throughout orthodontic treatment. Typically, we’re monitoring a patient’s hygiene. The dentist and the hygienist are going to be cleaning their teeth, looking for any problems they might have with decay.

If we identify anything throughout the course of orthodontic treatment, of course, we’re always referring back to the dentist to have problems taken care of. We stress the importance of oral hygiene in our practice because short of good oral hygiene, we know that patients can develop problems during orthodontics with poor oral hygiene.
